To better understand the Hallmarking Convention, it may be necessary to go back to its origins (see “Background to the Hallmarking Convention”). The seven Founding States, which drafted and signed the original Convention back in 1972, have since been joined by many others (see “Accession Dates”). The Convention is driven by the Standing Committee, in particular its Chairperson (see “Office Holders”). The Convention also entertains close links with other organisations (e.g. ISO) and non-Member States (see “Links & Addresses”).
